Summer School teaching in London
Updated: Jul 17, 2019
I will be returning to teach at the Mary Ward Centre in London this July for their summer school. When I lived in London I taught there about 3 days a week but now that I am in Edinburgh I usually only do a few weekend courses. However, I do tend to teach during their summer school programme.
As usual, I will be teaching a very eclectic mix of courses! Many of you will know that I started my career teaching Psychology before retraining in jewellery. I now teach Psychology and small business courses at the Mary Ward Centre.
Here are the details of my classes. Do click on the links if you want to learn more and to book your place.
The classes at the Mary Ward Centre are very reasonable because they are part government funded so take advantage if you can!
Fear at the Mary Ward Centre
Tuesday 23rd July, 10-4.30pm
Course code: 15SS
From rollercoasters at a fun fair, to adrenalin fuelled 'extreme' sports, to those who delight in scary stories and films, we seem to have a certain kind of fascination with fear. This course will aim to explore this topic from a number of different angles and in the process will provide an ideal introduction to three different subjects in the humanities and social sciences. With three different specialist tutors, you will be able to explore the different ways that anthropologists, psychologists and philosophers investigate this question. You will be introduced to the kinds of questions they raise, the different methods that they use and the way that they assess evidence and argument in doing so. At the same time, you will learn more about this perennially fascinating topic and hopefully have fun doing so.
I will be one of the teaching team on this course. We had fun teaching together last summer so I'm sure this will be too!
