What is the Arienas Collective?

We are a group of local artists working together to teach creative workshops. I teach 5 silver clay jewellery workshops with the Arienas Collective and am very grateful for their support and beautiful workshop location.

Free demonstrations

Myself and the other artists of the collective will be doing demonstrations throughout the day so do pop along.

12.30pm Soap making with Jenny Smith of the Scottish Soapworks Jenny will demonstrate how to hand-make glycerine soap. She is able to make soaps to order on the day including initial letters - perfect stocking fillers!

1.30pm Speed Sketching with Mark Kirkham, the Edinburgh Sketcher Mark will take you outside into the Meuse to show you some of his sketching hints and tips

2.30pm Letterpress printing with Lou Davis Lou will be demonstrating how to use vintage metal and wooden type for printing on a tabletop platen press. You will be able to have a go at printing a christmas card

3.30pm Lino printing with Suzanne Kemplay Suzanne will demonstrate the process of lino printing and you'll be able to have a go to create your own christmas gift tags

4.30pm Silver clay jewellery with Anna Campbell I will demonstrate how to make jewellery from silver clay including how to torch fire the clay into silver.

Artists pop up shop

There will also be a chance to support the artists by buying their work as christmas gifts. If you are keen to shop locally and support local businesses then this is a great opportunity to do so. This is the only place I'll be selling my jewellery this christmas and I have silver earrings and pendants for sale (including the bees!).

You can find out more about the other artists at the event here >

Logistics The Arienas Collective is based in a Georgian mews house in Edinburgh's historic New Town. The open day will run in our workshop space, a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access.

I hope to see you there!
