Masterclasses and Guest Tutors

For the first time, I am inviting an international metal clay artist to teach in Edinburgh, award-winning Polish artist Anna Mazon. I was fortunate to attend Anna's first course taught in the UK in 2013 and I have met her a number of times since (her English is excellent by the way!). Anna is a world-renowned metal clay artist and sought after teacher who travels around the world to share her techniques. These are Anna's only teaching dates in Scotland in 2020. You can take a look at her stunning jewellery here >

Questions

Workshop location

The workshop will be held at the Arienas Collective, 2 Dublin Meuse, Edinburgh, EH3 6NW

The location is very central, 10 minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station and the York Place tram stop.

The Arienas Collective is based in a Georgian mews house in Edinburgh's historic New Town. The workshop space is a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately does not have lift access. Do get in touch to discuss if you mobility issues. The bathroom is on the same floor as the workshop space so there is not a lot of up and down stairs but there is a flight of stairs to get up and down each day.

Accomodation

Edinburgh has lots of hotels and Air BnBs close to the Arienas Collective. If you are looking for a very convenient hotel the Premier Inn on York Place is just a few minutes away.

Food and refreshments

Refreshments and lunch are provided on this course. Do please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

Please check the details of the course and the dates carefully. Once you have booked onto one of Anna's classes your place is non-refundable and you will not be able to transfer your booking to another course. This is because we are relying on the course bookings to pay Anna and her travel.  If you are unable to attend you can transfer the place to a friend.

I've never tried metal clay before. Can I join a masterclass?

All of Anna's classes are suitable for those that have attended either the beginners silver clay class or the taster class. If you haven't done either before it is suggested that you attend one of the courses running before attending Anna's class.

I am an intermediate/advanced metal clay artist. Is this for me?

Absolutely! You will learn lots of tips and techniques on any and all of these masterclasses. The complexity of your designs during the class will be up to you. I will be attending the classes myself!

The price is more than the usual silver clay classes. Why is that?

Anna is travelling from Poland to teach with us in Edinburgh. We need to cover the costs of her pay, travel and accomodation as well as the use of the Arienas Collective, your silver etc. We have purposely scheduled the class in September to give people time to save if they need to or to ask for gift vouchers for christmas!

I don't normally need to bring my own tools. Why do I need to this time?

We have sets of all the basic metal clay tools. The additional tools are those that Anna is going to teach you how to utilise and you will need them if you want to make these pieces at home so asking you to bring your own helps to keep the cost of the class down.
