Anna Mazon teaching For Jewellery School Scotland in Edinburgh in October 2021
I am so happy to share that I will be hosting metal clay jewellery artist Anna Mazon for four silver clay jewellery masterclasses next month at the Arienas Collective, Edinburgh. There are still spaces available so do take the opportunity to learn from a talented and award-winning jeweller.
Anna is a world-renowned metal clay artist and sought after teacher who travels around the world to share her techniques. Anna has only taught once in Scotland before, in 2014, so it's great to be able to invite her back for Anna's only teaching dates in the whole of the UK in 2021. These classes are suitable for those with some experience of working with silver clay, you will need to have attended a beginners silver clay class.
Anna’s visit was originally scheduled for 2020 and unfortunately, she was unable to travel to us as Scotland was on lockdown. Fortunately, she is now able to travel to Scotland to teach. This is her only visit to the UK in 2021 and she currently does not have any future plans for teaching in Scotland so now is your chance!
We originally asked Anna to teach 3 masterclasses with us - the Silver Twig Ring, The Heart Deco pendant (2 days, Saturday and Sunday) and Sculpting and Carving Metal Clay. The Silver Twig Ring course was a very popular option and sold out early so thank you to Anna who has agreed to teach that workshop on an additional day.

Silver Twig Ring with Anna Mazon
1 day workshop

In this one-day masterclass, you will learn how to make your own twig ring from Art Clay Silver. Learn how to create this organic shape, carve, add embellishments and more!
Learn:
how to correctly size (adjusting for the shrinkage of the clay) and make an organic twig ring
how to use basic carving tools to carve the bark texture
try your hand at making embellishments e.g. leaves, fruit etc
to securely set faceted stones to the band
different ways to finish the fired silver ring to get different effects
(You do not need to have attended a ring making class before but you do need to have completed one of the beginners silver clay workshops with me OR have experience of working with silver clay)
Heart Deco Pendant Masterclass with Anna Mazon
2 Day Weekend Workshop - Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September 2021, 10-5.30pm
£295 (includes all materials, lunches and refreshments)
In this 2-day weekend workshop you will learn lots of different techniques to create a unique silver pendant.
Learn:
to make hollow form structures
to create various types of ornamentation using coils
to design and construct three-dimensional forms working in dry clay
to make a secure openwork construction
to make a setting for a fireable stone
to create articulated elements – bail or an element hanging below your pendant
The skills you learn on this weekend course will give you so many possibilities for your work with silver clay.

Sculpting and Carving Metal Clay Masterclass with Anna Mazon
1 day - Thursday 21st October 2021, 10-5.30pm

Have you ever wished you could sculpt with silver? Now is your chance to learn!
Anna Mazon sculpts with silver clay a lot in her work so is the perfect person to learn from. In this workshop, you will learn how to design and sculpt your own teddy bear pendant. The techniques you will learn will easily be transferable to any forms you want to be able to make.
Learn:
how to make hollow forms (which helps save on silver and make the piece light)
how to sculpt in wet clay
how to create detail in dry clay
different ways to create textures in dry clay
different ways to finish and polish the fired piece
